Day 11

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ in his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3

Merry Christmas Eve! We have hope in Jesus today! How awesome is that? Tomorrow marks the birth of Jesus, which many of you are probably aware of (haha). Through the span of Jesus’ life, he fulfilled over 300 prophecies, tons of which came true on the day Jesus was born! Because of that we now have hope in God. When God answered all of the promises he made about a savior in the old testament, he has given us a living hope, like this verse says.

Jesus is our hope and because he came and died on the cross like the Bible said he was going to, we know that he is going to come back for us. Because Jesus raised from the dead, we can trust God and all of his promises.

A place in the Bible where we can apply this hope to our lives is in Jeremiah 29:11. God tells us that He knows the plans he has for us. He is going to give us hope and a future. We can trust this promise because he has fulfilled so many other promises throughout the Bible.

I struggle with this a lot, if I haven’t mentioned this before, I am a worrier. I tend to overthink decisions and worry about what I am going to wear, what I am going to eat, when I am going to work out, what my grades are, if I am going to get enough sleep, when I am going to hang out with friends. Honestly the list goes on and on. It seems crazy but my brain really likes to plan things out and because of that I get caught up in so many different thoughts. But something that I have really been praying through is, hoping and trusting in God’s plan. I just really want to encourage y’all to hope in the Lord. We know that he is good and that he will never hurt us.

Two things that I have been working on to conquer my worries are praying through it and filling myself up with scripture. I think that one of the best ways to cast our anxieties on the Lord is to diligently pray through them. I have been challenging myself whenever that worry or thought pops into my brain, to just call on Jesus and say “Lord I am sorry for worrying about this again, will you please help me see things like you do and trust your peace in this moment?” Most of the time the answers aren’t immediate, but when is our timing synced up with God’s haha, but he truly does provide that hope and peace if you let him. And dive into the word,  when you allow yourself to read scripture it will stick in your brain! Then when you are feeling worried, God will put is truth into your heart because you have studied it.

Our hope is real because of Jesus Christ. He has allowed us to be in relationship with God and trust his promises. I love being able to celebrate that hope this time of year! Merry Merry Christmas Eve!
