We are getting so close to Christmas and I am getting SO excited but also a little bit sad because that means the festive season is almost over. Anyways, I quickly just want to thank everyone who has been reading this blog and the 12 days of traits! I really appreciate it and I have some fun ideas for the New Year. Alright let’s get on with day 8.
“And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.” 1 Thessalonians 5:14
Do you ever read a verse and think to yourself, um wow that is a good one? Hahah that is what I thought when I read this today. Day 8’s word is patience. Patience is something I struggle with and I think that being impatient stems from having pride which is one of the worst sins. When we are prideful, it’s like we are telling God, I don’t really need you Dad, I can do this on my own because I deserve it. I think that having patience is submitting to God’s will and trusting in his plan.
If you aren’t already, I assume many of y’all will be joining your extended family for Christmas festivities. As awesome as they are, sometimes being in a house full of family members can be a little difficult when coming to decisions and making sure everyone is happy. I think this is a place where we can really obey God’s commandments in this verse and practice patience. It’s not easy. (Hahah I think that is becoming a trend in my blogs). But it’s worth it! Sacrificing your needs for someone else’s is so rewarding when you see the joy on their face.
Let’s live out this verse this holiday season and forever! Let’s encourage those around us and be patient with them.
